Ethlon was a character, possibly one of the Solosimpi, appearing only in the early version of the legendarium in a prose fragment following The Book of Lost Tales.
Ethlon is never mentioned again, and nothing else is known about the character, except that they spoke "wise words" against Fëanor and the rest of the Gnomes that wanted to leave Valinor after the death of the Two Trees and the theft of the Silmarils.[1]
Etymology
The name Ethlon is in Noldorin, according to Paul Strack, but its meaning is unclear.[2]
Another name for the character was Dimlint.[1]
