Meleth was the nurse of Eärendel, according to the early version of the legendarium in The Book of Lost Tales. She took care of him during the first years of his life in Gondolin. She also told him tales about Melko, which made him cry when the lights of the enemy appeared in his chamber during the Fall of Gondolin.[1] It is unknown if she survived with the exiles.
Etymology[edit]
meleth is Gnomish for "love".[2]
