Poldor was a Númenórean man according to the early version of the legendarium in The Lost Road.
He was a peer of Herendil, who complained to his father Elendil that Poldor had called him Eärendel the previous day by way of scorn or mockery.[1] However, in the lastest draft, Poldor was omitted, and replaced by Herendil's numerous anonymous peers, with Herendil telling his father that his peers called him names such as Terendul (meaning "slender and dark") and accusing him of being a "half-Noldo."[2]
Etymology[edit]
Poldor appears to be a Quenya name, derived from pol in polda ("strong, burly").[3]
