Eldacar succeeded his father, Valandil, when he died in T.A. 249. His father Valandil was the only surviving son of Isildur, the last High King of both Gondor and Arnor.
His reign was without any significant event, and he died in T.A. 339 after having ruled Arnor for ninety years. He was succeeded by his son Arantar.[2]
Etymology[edit | edit source]
Eldacar is a Quenya name. It means "Elfhelm".[3] It is a compound of elda ("elf") and the suffixal form -car of carma ("helm").[4]
