The First Generation of Elves, known as the Eru-Begotten or Unbegotten, were the origional 144 Quendi awakened by Eru Ilúvatar at Cuiviénen when the Stars were lit. Consisting of 72 pairs, they were divided into three clans - the Minyar, Tatyar, and Nelyar - and were the ancestors of all other Elves. [1]
