The livery of the heirs of Elendil was a black surcoat with an embroidered blossoming white tree beneath a silver crown and many-pointed stars.[1]
At the time of the War of the Ring nobody, except the Guards of the Citadel wore it in Gondor.[1]
Standard of Elendil
The standard of Elendil was a banner attached to a staff with a version of the design of the livery of Elendil that was made by Arwen for Aragorn Elessar.[2] It had a black field,[3] with a flowering white tree for Gondor, seven stars wrought of gems about it, and a crown wrought of mithril and gold above it.[4] These were the signs of the house of Elendil, which Aragorn unfurled at the Battle of the Pelennor Fields.[4] The royal banner of Gondor had been black with a blossoming white tree beneath seven stars.[5]
