- 1914 - At the request of G.B. Smith, J.R.R. Tolkien addresses Corpus Christi College's Sundial Society about the Kalevala and the lack of an English mythology.
- 1916 - J.R.R. Tolkien signs a form for the War Office, confirming his return to England from France due to trench fever.
- 1950 - Artist David T. Wenzel is born.
- 1954 - Rayner Heppenstall writes a letter to J.R.R. Tolkien.
- 1956 - J.R.R. Tolkien writes a letter to Miss Stanley-Smith.
- 1961 - J.R.R. Tolkien writes Letter 234.
