Year of the Trees 1
From Tolkien Gateway
Year of the Trees 1 (abbreviated to Y.T. 1) is the 1st year of the Trees of Arda. Year of the Trees 1 was also V.Y. 3501 in Valian Years.
Notable events in this year include:
- After Yavanna grew the Two Trees of Valinor on the hilltop Ezellohar to give a new light to Arda, Telperion blooms alone at the Opening Hour; on the second hour, the First Day comes, and the Count of Time begins with it.[1][2]
- For one thousand Years of the Trees the Valar dwell in bliss in Valinor beyond the Mountains of Aman, while all Middle-earth lay in a twilight under the Stars.[2][3]
- Over the next many ages Melkor sleeps in Utumno, and Oromë hunts down the Enemy's monstrosities throughout Middle-earth.[2][3] Melkor raises the Hithaeglir in an attempt to hinder his efforts.[4]
