First Age 462 (abbreviated to F.A. 462) is the 462nd year of the Sun of the First Age of Middle-earth.
Notable events in this year include:
- Morgoth renewed his assault against Hithlum.
- At Barad Eithel, Galdor was slain and Húrin became Lord of Dor-lómin; he drove the Orcs back from the walls and into the Anfauglith.[1][2]
- Fingon faced a separate army coming down from the north and, outnumbered, was hard pressed to hold them back and battle spilled into the plains of Hithlum. Círdan, however, sent aid and landed his forces in Drengist which then fell upon the west flank of the Orcs. The Orcs then broke and fled, pursued by horsed archers.[1][2]
Between 455 and 462
- At was noted that at sometime prior to this year, Morgoth's army which had driven into East Beleriand following the Dagor Bragollach had been utterly destroyed. It was initially broken by Thingol on the borders of Doriath, with the scattered part that departed south never seen again, that which went north destroyed by Maedhros, and that which went east near the mountains hunted by Dwarves.[1]
