Captain of the King's Ships

The Captain of the King's Ships was naval title often given the commander of Númenor's fleets, and was often the King's Heir of Númenor.

This title was especially associated with Veantur. He served as Captain during the reign of Tar-Elendil.[1]. He was the first Númenórean to make the sea-voyage back to Middle-earth, on his flagship Entulessë. His grandson Tar-Aldarion became known as the Great Captain, and founded the Guild of Venturers in Númenor.
