The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum is the working title of a forthcoming film adaptation currently in active development and set for a 2026 release, the first of a planned series of Tolkien franchise films to be produced by Warner Bros.[1] It will be directed by and star Andy Serkis, who played Gollum in Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings film trilogy, and produced by Jackson and his co-writing team of Fran Walsh and Philippa Boyens. [2]

Like the Lord of the Rings film trilogy, The Hunt for Gollum is to be produced in New Zealand with visual effects by Wētā FX. No details about the plot have been revealed except that the film will feature Gollum and "explore storylines yet to be told."[2]
